    Climate:in the interior moderate continental climate with hot and dry summers and cold humid winters. Mountainous regions fresh summers and sharp winters with a large amount of snow. Coastal regions Mediterranean climate with hot and very dry summers and mild but humid winters.

    Average temperature in January:the interior, -1 to 3 degrees Celsius;the mountains,-5 to 0 degress Celsius;the coast, 5 to 10 degrees Celsius.
    Average temperature in August:the interior, 22 to 26 degress Celsius;the mountains 15 to 20 degrees Celsius; the coast, 26 to 30 degrees Celsius.
    People:the majority of the population are Croats, with minority groups of Serbs, Moslems, Slovenians, Italians and Czechs.
    Religion:the majority of the population are Roman Catyholic, with minority populations of Christian Orthodox, other Christian denominations and Moslem.
    Official language:Croatian, Latin script.
    National parks:Brijuni,Kornati,Krka,Mljet,Paklenica,Lake Plitvice(UNESCO's World Heritage),Risnjak,North Velebit.

    Nature parks:Biokovo,Kopacki rit,Lonja Field, Medvednica,Telascica,Velebit,Zumberak-Samoborsko gorje,Papuk,Ucka,Vranjsko lake.
    Others protected area:73 special reseves,27 park-forest,28 significant landscapes, 75 exemplars of natural phenomena and 120 horticultural sites.
    Croatia have atractive cultural-historical heritage, monuments from all periods,thanks to stromy historical events and the interwining of influences of different cultures.

    Influences of Mediterranean culture,numerous monuments from Antiquity, the Roman Period and the early Middle Ages, Romanesque sacral heritage and the a series of preserved characteristic Mediterranean urban complexes characterize its seaside.Continental Croatia is part of the middle European cultural circle and is prominent because of numerous prehistoric finds of world importance, old towns, fortresses, and castles of the late Middle Age and cultural monuments and architecture of the baroque period.
    Dubrovnik-on of the best preserved medieval fortified cities on the Mediterranean;built mainly from the 13 "to the 16" century; completely preserved city walls with towers, Governor's Court, the cathedral, Sponza Palace, the Franciscan monastery, Lovrijenac fortress; the OLd Town is the part of UNESCO's World Heritage.

    Split-historical core with Antique Diokletian Palace, one of the most important preserved late Roman historical monuments and a part of UNESCO's World Heritage; the Cathedral of St. Dujmo, the old Croatian Church of the Holy Trinity and other significant sites.
    Trakoscan-a Romanesque castle above the lake of the same name.
    Varazdin-well preserved baroque urban complex;monumental Old Town, churches and monasteries,city cementery from the 19"century,know because of its unique horticulture.
    Zagreb-historical urban complex of the medieval Upper Town,planned Lower Town from the second half of the 19" century, with a series of parks in the shape of a horseshoe; The Zagreb Cathedral is the most prominent in the country.

    Tourism:Croatia have a Nautical tourism and 48 marinas, Naturism, Health tuorism, Winter tourism, Hunting tourism, Youth tourism.
    Some famous people of Croatia: Rudjer Boskovic (1711-1787) the physicist, mathematician and astonomer;
    Marin Drzic (1508-1567) writer, one of the greatest comedians of Renaissance;
    Ivan Generalic(1914-1992)naive painter;
    Ivan Mestrovic(1883-1962)famous Croatian sculptor, know for monumental sculptures with national themes,his best sculpture is "Indians" in Chicago;
    Marco Polo(1254-1324),born on island Korcula, adventurer and explorer;
    Nikola Tesla(1856-1943)one of the greatest inventors in the field of electrical engineering;
    Vatroslav Lisinski(1819-1854)composer, wrote the first Croatian opera "Love in Malice" in 1846.
