The Pedagogical Centre is part of The Local Education Authority of Malmö, Sweden.
For more than 30 years it has been an organization dealing with pedagogical development and services for the approx. 80 schools in Malmö. We are working with schools of all levels from primary to upper secondary and adult education.
Our main task is the development of ICT for pedagogical purposes. This includes an ICT Department, a School Library Centre and an Audio-visual Resource Centre.
We have been developing virtual platforms, meeting-places and discussion fora on the net since the early nineties.
Our centre also includes The School of Nature, The Mathematical Workshop and The School Museum of Malmö.
We train teachers, we initiate and support projects where modern information technology is an important tool and we provide Internet services like web servers, mail etc.
We administer PedNet, a virtual platform for 49 000 teachers and students with personal log in and e-mail. A place for teaching and learning, independent of time and room.
We also do projects and in-service training for teachers in co-operation with Malmö University.
We co-ordinate the participation of Swedish schools in European Schools Project and support all schools in the area taking part in different Socrates activities and other EU programmes as well as Nordic Council projects. We are also a member of the ECOLE Consortium (Comenius 3).
The City of Malmö is a multi-cultural city with many possibilities and challenges. That's why we engage in projects like Social Inclusion.
We are also doing research in the use of school library and ICT in multi-cultural areas.
Our main goal is to facilitate and support integration of modern information technology in education on all levels and to develop new models for teaching and learning.
