User manual

INSERVICE TRAINING COURSE

 

 


 

Introduction

 

The Internet site www.inservicetrainingcourse.com has been made to be a meeting place and information exchange area for participants and organizers that will be a part of the NO-004-2001-02 course in Lisbon from Oct. 8 to Oct. 13.

 

The site is available for anyone interested in getting general information about the course, but in addition to that, each applicant has an individual login username and password to get access to the member section of the site. In the member section you are able to edit your member profile as well as edit and send your assignment answers.

 

 

General information

 

For the best and most compatible browser experience use nothing older than either Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 4.x. The latest version of MSIE is at www.microsoft.com/ie and Netscape at www.netscape.com .

Public sections

 

This section is open to everyone that’s interested in the course, and the main menu looks like this:

 

”Main page” brings you to the first page, containing general information about the course.

 

“Information” gives you the information letters that are frequently published here. Check in on this page as often as you can to stay updated. You will also get a notification in your email when there is a new information letter posted here.

 

“Schedule” shows the week-schedule of the course in Lisbon and can be printed by viewing the Excel-version at the bottom of the page.

 

“Assignments” is where you find the latest assignments that you are going to answer on this page. (More about this in section “Answering assignments” on page 4)

 

“Participants” has a complete list of all the participants for the current course.

 

“Applicants” includes both participants and those that are just interested in the current course.

 

“Organizers” gives you a list of all the organizers involved in the course and by clicking their name you get more information about them.

 

“Partners” are those that will participate in the course as either guides or other functions.

 

“Part-timers” are people that will lecture at the course but only briefly.

 

“Help” always has the latest version of the user manual available and also with a direct link to the webmaster.


 

Login in

 

As an applicant you have received a username and password for the Inservice Training Course pages. (If you haven’t gotten this, contact Dan D. Daatland) To login to the member section of the site, use the ”Member login” box on the lower left of the page as illustrated below.

 

 

Enter your username and password in the fields and then press the ”Login me in” button. As a logged in participant you’ll get the following options in the ”Member section” area:

 

 

”My answers” has a list assignment answers that you have saved.

 

”Log out” logs you out of the member section making the ”Member login” box reappear on the page. (Closing the active Internet browser window will also automatically log you out)

 


 

My profile

 

”My profile” is where you change your member profile, containing information such as email, telephone number, address, travel plan and additional information about yourself. The form looks like this:

 

 

The field ”Travel plan” is where you write a brief explanation of how you are planning on getting to the course in Lisbon. (Kind of transport, dates and times, tickets and so forth) This way you can easier plan your trip according to what other people do.


 

Answering assignments

 

In order to answer an assignments you have to go to the “Assignments” section in the menu. The assignments will then appear in a list like this:

 



Note that all assignments have a deadline. Passed this date, you cannot write or edit the answer anymore.

 

If you click the title of one of the assignments it will appear in a more detailed view like this:

 



If you have written an answer in e.g. Microsoft Word, you can easily attach the document with the button right to the “upload file” field.

 

When you are done, don’t forget to press the “Save answer” button.

 

 

Viewing and editing your assignment answers

 

If you go the “My answers” section in the member section menu you’ll see a list like this:

 

 

This list has all the answers that you have saved so far. If you want to edit one of them, click the “Edit” text on the right column. Remember that answers cannot be edited after the deadline has passed.
