Institute for Secondary Education -Centre for Higher Professional training) is a state-run centre which is accountable to the Department of Education within the Catalan Autonomous Government.
Established in 1974 as a centre for professional training, it underwent continued expansion up until 1995.
Size of the institution:
Currently (2002-2003) there are 960 students, 90 teachers and 6 administration and services personnel in the centre.
Location:
IES-SEP La Garrotxa is located in the town of Olot within the Garrotxa Volcanic Natural Park, with a population of some 29,000 inhabitants.
Experience:
It has taken part in several European programs (Leonardo, Lingua, Comenius 1, Comenius 2) and done exchanges with students from various countries (Italy, Finland, France, Denmark).
