29-05-08 Web page of Group for Eduational Authorities is updated Work plan 2007-2008; uploading reports from core partners (Croatia, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Norway). 12-04-07 Prepairing round table discussing education policies for minorities (Sofia conference) One of the partners is Katica Pevec Semec of the National Education Institute (Ljubljana). Together with colleagues from Northern Ireland, Croatia, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, she will elaborate on national reports concerning education policies for minorities in the round table discussion on Friday (2nd conference day). 02-09-06 Bodhild Baasland - the coordinator of the thematic group for Educational Authorities Presenting the Norwegian lead partner (the Directorate for Primary and Secondary Education. The Directorate for Primary and Secondary Education is meant to be a driving force for quality development in Norwegian primary and secondary education. The establishment of the Directorate is part of the improvements in the national education administration and is one of the elements in a collected national strategy for quality development in primary and secondary education. |
To discuss issues related to aims and objectives of the network and particularly focus on needs in in Educational Authorities. Result of discussions to be published as printed Guidelines and Recommendations and be presented on Annual Conferences and web-site.
Each of the four thematic seminar groups will be active in CLUSTERING networks, projects and initiatives in the area of migration and interculturral relations, thereby fostering long term collaboration with other networks, projects, and European initiatives.

Workplan for 2007-2008
Each country prepares a report on the national situation of the education for minorities. This report should be rather brief, approximately 2-3 pages. These reports will be discussed at a session of the conference of the network in Sofia, Bulgaria April 25-28. Some of the main points will also be presented at a plenary session of the conference.
The report should as far as possible briefly describe these items:
1. Background/history of minorities in schools
2. Recent immigration
3. Number of minorities in schools
4. Provisions in schools
5. Allocation of resources
6. Curriculum
7. Bilingual education
8. Action plans
9. Teacher training
10. New initiatives
11. Examples of best practice
Draft reports were presented at 2nd annual conference, Sofia 2007.
Meeting in tematic group planned in Croatia autumn of 2007 but was postponed.
Draft reports to be refined during 3rd annual conference, Valcea (Romania) 2008.
Final work: planned meeting in Portugal early autumn 2008.
